Ferrari wheels made from magnesium were sandblasted elsewhere, which also blasted the dichromate protection. Austec uses plastic media blasting leaves this essential coating in place. You can see the effect of plastic media blasting in this next set of wheels. The plastic beads strips the original paint off but will not harm the protective dichromate layer (seen on the right in yellow). We then apply an undercoat to the safely stripped wheel, ready for it's final colour.
